Fibromyalgia is probably one of the most difficult chronic sets of symptoms for someone to deal with on a day-to-day basis, and unfortunately it stops many people from living even relatively normal lives, let alone working or enjoying themselves. But there are ways to cope, and we want to share a few tips with you to help make living with fibromyalgia a little bit easier.
Firstly, start making a list of all the things you love to do to relax yourself, and try to do as many of them as you can every day. Stay as rested and relaxed as possible, even if you have a job, and don't let anything stress you out - stress is a major cause of worsening symptoms. So whether you like relaxing and catching up with the news or the latest information at http://www.aviva.co.uk/life/, or you like listening to music and sprawling out on a beanbag, do so regularly and take it easy.
Try and get out, too - not only do you need exercise to balance out the rest a little bit, but some sunlight and fresh air will always do someone good if they're not feeling great. We weren't designed to sit in offices and living rooms, so we'll always feel more invigorated and alive when we're outside. If you're tired after a day at the park, try a long, hot bath - it'll ease your muscles and joints, and you'll feel more relaxed and at peace.
Finally, think about what aggravates your symptoms, and avoid these situations or activities as much as possible. Whether it's a computer screen, driving, talking on the phone, arguing with the neighbours... anything that makes you feel stressed or upset isn't going to do you any favours, and physical exertion or staring at bright lights isn't worth it if you'll feel worse afterwards.
These are just a few tips, but there is a community out there on the world wide web that are more than happy to share their experiences and advice, so find your routine and help yourself into a better lifestyle.
